“Through Him – With Him – In Him”
Patricia Pendleton was born on April 2, 1932 to Mary and Roy Pendleton. She was welcomed to the family by her seven brothers and sisters. The Pendletons lived in St. Lawrence Parish on the south side of Chicago. As a true “south sider”, Pat was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox. She never missed a game on the radio or TV and would attend in person if at all possible. Pat attended Loretto Academy, where she met the Loretto Sisters and joined the order after graduation.
Pat was a creative teacher at parish schools in Chicago, Illinois; Carmichael, California; Phoenix, Arizona; Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and at Unity High School in Chicago. She spent ten years as a missionary at St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the West Indies.
Upon returning to the US, she was a founder of Mary Ward Center in South Chicago, teaching English as a second language and assisting the people in many other ways. Wherever she ministered, Pat always possessed a special sense of caring for the poor and marginalized.
Pat died on December 6, 2016 after 67 years as a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She will be greatly missed by us all.
