Born in Chicago in 1931, the fifth child of six: one brother and five girls. All the girls attended Loretto Academy. Thanks to the generosity of the Sisters, we were all able to work our way through school doing assigned jobs at lunch time and also after school. Because of our close contact with the IBVM's, three of us entered after graduation. On Sept 8, 1949 I entered Loretto Convent in Wheaton, Illinois. In 1952 we were sent on our first mission to teach. I was a full time elementary teacher in grades one to eight for 53 years. I taught in the following schools: Chicago: St. Bride, St. Cyril, St. Adrian (23 yrs.), St. Mary Star of the Sea; Carmichael, CA: Our Lady of the Assumption; Phoenix, AZ: St. Gregory, Sts Simon Jude. Retired from St. Gregory in 2006. However, in 2007 Sr. Raphael invited us to assist at Sts Simon Jude School where we tutored in an After School Study Skills program for 4 years. Sr. Loreto then invited us to work in the Faith Formation primary sacramental program for 7 yrs. I completely retired in 2017 at age 87 and 64 yrs. in the teaching ministry which I thoroughly enjoyed.
