Loretto House

Loretto House provides hospitality and support for single women in transition. Motivated by the IBVM charism of Integrity, Justice and Freedom Loretto House is designed to help women help themselves.

Loretto House gives single women in need (an underserved population) a stepping-stone after shelter living. It offers the women extra time beyond the shelter stay to prepare themselves to take on the financial and emotional responsibility of living on their own. Residents can stay up to one year.

Initially focused on single women with no dependents Loretto House was asked to consider accepting pregnant women, another underserved population. Since housing for such women was almost non-existent Loretto House entered into an agreement with approximately twenty agencies to offer a continuum-of-care to the women who seek help. Pregnant women can stay at Loretto House for one month past delivery.

Thanks to the partnership arrangement between Loretto House and social service agencies each women receives the care needed. Finding herself in the

safe environment of Loretto House with the support of a mentor, the individual is better able to access the programs/needed services offered through the agency.
