Three Immigration Bills
Anti-Registry Program Act (SB 3488)
This bill would bar state and local agencies in Illinois from creating or participating in any program that collects personal information to use to identify state residents based on their race, religion, national origin, seual orientation, or other characteristics.
Safe Zones Bill (SB 35)
This bill would direct the Illinois Attorney General to develop model policies for courthouses, schools, and medical facilities to limit interactions with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents if they appear at these facilities.
VOICES Act (SB 34)
VOICES would require law enforcement agencies to provide certifications (in most cases within 90 business days) for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and certain other offenses who need those certifications to get federal protection through U and T visas. Currently there is no requirement to provide the certification within a certain time, leaving many in limbo as they await a certification form.
Please contact your IL (Springfield) Senator and your IL (Springfield) Representative regarding these bills, even if you have already done so. We need to build momentum to assure passage of these bills.
